Tradition

In Upper Franconia since 1976

We have been manufacturing high-quality pile fabrics in the Franconian Forest since 1976 (until October 2019 under the name Stammbacher Veloursweberei GmbH).

STVW GmbH was founded by Helmut and his wife Jutta Steinlein in a district of Stammbach, known world-wide as Gundlitz. The history of Stammbach was and still is influenced by the textile industry, especially by the plush weaving.

While the Stammbach velour weaving mill initially produced mainly plushes and velvets for the furniture industry, it was recognised very soon that the production of these fabrics depended largely on fashion, irrespective of all the creativity and experience.

Since 1980, work to build up and expand the weaving mill therefore was therefore started in order to weave products that can be used in very different areas. Alongside fabrics for the toy industry, the development and production of technical fabrics in particular continued to expand.

In 2000, Helmut Steinlein passed STVW GmbH on to his son Roland, who turned the company into a leading velour supplier in Germany, known for its innovative and qualitative special fabrics.

In 2019, the Stammbach velour weaving mill was acquired by Thomas Popp and is now being run under the name POPP Velourstex GmbH with the same passion and in the spirit of the Steinlein family.
